First of all, what is an IP address? Well here's the definition. An IP address is a numerical label assigned to a device like a computer or printer etc, participating in a computer network that uses the internet protocol for communication. It's like how your house has a street address, your computer has one too. Our server has an IP address, it is 126.96.36.199:25585. With that combination of numbers, you are able to get on our ChildsCraft server and start building. But there's a problem. For the past few months, our server host has been notifying us that the section of their server that we are located in, is getting too full. So they offered us a less crowded, less laggy section in their server database. But to do that transition our IP adress address would change. So if you tried to lo in after we made that switch, you would not be able to get on our server, because it's not located there anymore. So in about 2 weeks (official still being worked on with Hawkeye_7) we will make the switch over to the new, less laggy server. Of course you must be wondering, "Will I lose all my stuff?" The answer is no, you will not notice anything different about our server, except for the IP change, and how it is less laggy. Your house and everything in it will be the same, and your inventory too. How this is done, is the same way we back up the world maps. Everything, all 1.8 Gigabytes of it, (which is a lot for Minecraft) is save on our computers here at the house of Hawkeye_7, me, and Falcon_7. We got it all saved. To make sure no one gets left behind in this transition, we are doing our best to get the word out to everyone. Check our twitter, Facebook, and here on the website. We will post the new IP as soon as we know it. We're also going to have an email notification system set up so everyone can get the new IP address in their email. So send us a message, or comment with your username, and email address, so we can let you know when the switch happens and what the new IP address is. I will be posting here on the blog all the latest updates on how the switch is going on twitter and Facebook, and here on the blog page. We want all to know.

Ok, let me explain myself. As we all know MineCraft updated itself on August 1st, 2012. With that said, the Server had to be shut down to update it's .jar files. In the mean time, we launched a Temporary Map,1.3.1 ready for players to be on while we were updating. it takes a little longer than we would like to update, because the company Bukkit, has to first update its Server Program CraftBukkit. CraftBukkit is what ChildsCraft runs on, and since 1.3.1 came out, a new version had to be made. This took a few days after the update. But add even more stuff to this, ALL THE OPS AND ADMINS WERE ON VACATION!! This means the ServerGod Hawkeye_7, the Admin Falcon_7, and me the Op-Admin Agressor7, were out of town. So you guys just had this Temporary Map to play on while we were on a lake-house wake boarding. Soo... yeah. But, it's all good! All of yesterday, we got rid of the Temporary Map, brought back the ones you're used to, added a new Survival World (So you can find emeralds easier), and restored all the mods to the most up-to-date version. It was a lot of work, but now ChildsCraft is fully restored and ready to go. We won't be doing anything like that again, until the day 1.4 comes around... Happy Crafting!

There are many people that come on the server for the first time, and one of the questions they ask is, "Who is the owner of the server?" The owner, Hawkeye_7, is our ServerGod, an "owner" you could say. He controls a lot of the technical stuff that needs to be taken care of in ChildsCraft. this includes editing .yml packets, installing new mods, keeping texture pack folders up-to-date, backing-up map files, revising player permissions, adding player labels, and the list goes on and on from there. The thing is, Hawkeye_7 does many things the none of the players even realize has to be done. What's a .yml packet? I don't know. Sounds geeky and well... boring too. But what my knowledge is on .yml packets is that they're like the foundation and the format that the buckkit file runs on. That's all i know, but Hawkeye_7 works with these all the time, and with out them the server could not even be possible. I hear a lot of players come on here and they want to know how they too can start they're own server, and I tell them that it's very hard to figure out how to start a server like ours. And it's not because I don't want them not ever coming back on to our server (well, part of the reason), but the truth is, is that running and controlling a server is very hard, and very sensitive. Everything has to be precise in order for it to work.
Hawkeye_7 also has some struggles, like his life in the real world with his family and his ALS (click the "ALS" button to learn more about it). So with that said it is a far reason why he's not online as most of us like him to be, unless you tremble when you see his name as most of us do. He's nice, and he keeps our server fair to everyone. Heck, if it wasn't for this guy I'd be the supreme dictator in all the lands of ChildsCraft. Ok, i'm kidding. The point is, Hawkye_7 does many things that us players are not aware of. So next time you see our ServerGod, give him a little "Thank you" in the chat bar (before he smites you with lightning (ok i'm just kidding, he wouldn't do that)).
